Abstract The advent of AI applications in medical care is bringing about a revolution that enhances the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment, changing how medical workers conduct their tasks. With the development of AI technologies and their application in healthcare, the use of AI devices in medicine is bound to reform medical practices. This essay compares the use of AI in health studies made in Asia and America by analyzing the number and themes with respect to AI devices in medicine in scientific research. This literature review demonstrates that America is interested in studies related to cardiovascular disease, as well as cancer. In contrast, Asia dwells much in the management of diabetes by use of AI technologies. The two continents have a massive interest in the application of AI in medical imaging, especially in stroke improvement. Both regions are actively exploring AI-powered research and robotic surgery, although there is a limited number of discussions on the integration of AI into robotic surgery in both continents. This study showcases the active and varied research on the use of AI in medicine, emphasizing regional strengths and engagement. The findings reflect that there is great potential to improve global health through the utilization of AI. Still, it underscores the necessity for high-quality data, transparency, and accountability in its use, which could be implemented in potential smart city infrastructures. © 2024 IEEE.
