Abstract The trend of increasing the number of electric vehicles (EV) requires the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles. On the other hand, the concept of smart cities aims to increase the quality of life of citizens. This paper describes a system for remote control of charging stations for electric vehicles powered by renewable energy sources. The architecture of the system for remote control of the mentioned stations is described. The introduction of IoT into the station was also discussed in order to integrate it into the IoT system of the smart city. The telecommunication aspects were generally presented and it was shown why and how IoT is introduced into the EV charging station. The terminal for remote control of the station, as a central part of the system, is specially described. The terminal enables remote control of electric vehicle chargers, smart batteries and renewable energy sources, smart meters and fiscal cash registers. This paper also describes the realization of the hardware and software of such a terminal. Also, the application of artificial intelligence in the operation of the terminal was considered. © 2024 IEEE.
