Abstract Electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining significant attention as a sustainable transportation solution in the era of smart cities. The successful deployment of EVs in smart cities relies on effective power management, seamless connectivity, and efficient charging infrastructure. Power electronics and the internet of things (IoT) play vital roles in addressing these challenges and optimizing the operation and integration of EVs within the smart city ecosystem. This research article presents a comprehensive review of the latest developments, challenges, and opportunities in the integration of power electronics and IoT for EVs in smart cities.
