Abstract The market share of electric vehicles is growing rapidly. As a consequence of this trend, there is a great need for commercial and private renewable sources powered stations for electric vehicles charging. The installed stations can be introduced into a smart city environment for increasing the usage of stations, achieving energy and cost savings, and increasing the quality of life in the community. In this paper, we propose renewable sources powered station for electric vehicles charging that integrates in the smart city environment. The paper proposes IoT based architecture that aims to standardize the integration of stations into smart city concept. In this way, the interoperability problems would be significantly decreased and the integration process would be easier, faster and cheaper. © 2023 IEEE.
