Abstract	Smart Cities have become the new talk in the community. Citizens and businesses are engaged in an intelligent and connected ecosystem. Being faced by the challenges to meet objectives regarding the quality of life and social development, cities to cater that need are attempting to transform themselves into smart cities. Thus they are the result of knowledge-comprehensive and creative strategies aiming at reinforcing the socio-economic, ecological and competitive performance of cities. This paper aims to understand the social impact potential and the limits of smart cities. The concept of "Smart City" is adapting to the most powerful economic and social forces of our time to the needs of the places where most of us live and work. Along with the development of smart cities comes a large range of IoT devices which creates cybersecurity and privacy concerns.
