Abstract This chapter explores the potential of implementing cyber-physical systems (CPS) in smart cities through the use of augmented reality (AR) networks in the mobility decade. Smart cities utilize various technologies such as IoT, big data, and cloud computing to improve the quality of life for citizens and enhance the efficiency of city operations. CPS, which integrates physical and digital systems, can play a key role in achieving these goals. In this study, the authors propose the implementation of CPS in smart cities through the use of AR networks to enhance mobility. AR technology can provide real-time information and guidance to citizens, improving the navigation and transportation experience. Additionally, the integration of CPS and AR can lead to the optimization of city operations such as traffic management and maintenance of infrastructure © 2023, IGI Global. All rights reserved.
