Abstract	Smart city is a new concept and model of urban development in recent years. It is another major breakthrough in scientific and technological progress. Buildings are an important part of urban construction. This paper mainly systematically introduces the principle of software platform and three-dimensional data format using traditional three-dimensional modeling method and modern BIM system. Because BIM Technology contains extremely rich modern building information, it can be mainly applied to realize the ultra micro level expression of smart city building information itself, and to use GIS three-dimensional real-time spatial position analysis software and building visualization three-dimensional technology, It provides a powerful support for the macro level and sustainable development of buildings. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
