Abstract	With the continuous expansion of the scale of modern urban construction and the wide application of information technology in architectural design, the level of intelligence and informatization in urban construction has been significantly improved. Among them, the application of BIM technology in smart city construction has not only changed traditional buildings. At the same time, it also effectively improves the efficiency of modern smart city construction and makes architectural design more scientific. Moreover, smart city construction is the integration of modern science and technology with traditional architectural design. Under the circumstance of emphasizing the structure, space, layout and function of traditional architectural design, the traditional architectural design scheme can be effectively implemented through BIM technology, which has an important role in promoting the construction of smart city. © 2022 SPIE.
