Abstract Today, the need for effective construction information management associated with geospatial data plays an important role in smart city development. The gap between GIS and BIM is bridging. Combining 3D models from Revit and other applications with location intelligence from ArcGIS delivers real value to architects, engineers, contractors, and owners. This study examines integrating the BIM model on the GIS platform to achieve consistent building system management in alignment with urban development. This paper employs a direct conversion method where the BIM model is designed in *.rvt format and then integrated into the ArcGIS Pro software. One notable aspect of this study is the proposed four-step process for applying the direct conversion method and integrating BIM and GIS models. The process was tested on the Barcelona Pavilion building model in Spain, and the results demonstrated the preservation of data integrity in the BIM model. The advantage of this method lies in reducing conversion time while ensuring the in- integrity of the BIM model. The results of this conversion are utilized for analyzing and querying spatial data related to the converted model. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
