Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak has prompted the deployment of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) network in Smart City with an effort to strengthen the smart healthcare system and reduce healthcare expenditures. To augment the operation of smart healthcare in Smart City, next-generation wireless networks appeared as a promising connectivity solution that can facilitate the medical service delivery model. Nevertheless, the major challenge for next-generation wireless networks is to accommodate disparate smart healthcare Quality of Service requirements in Smart City. In this regard, substantial research efforts have been contributed but multiservice provisioning has not been considered. In particular, the proposed framework leverages the software-defined wireless networking (SDWN) and double deep reinforcement learning (DDRL) to facilitate intelligent network selection solution for smart healthcare services, namely, data-intensive, delay-sensitive, and energy-efficient services in Smart City. Within this paradigm, the proposed solution validated through the extensive simulations exhibited a considerable enhancement in the comprehensive system performance. Consequently, the analytical assessment highlights the supremacy of the proposed solution with respect to convergence and stability. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Diptendu Sinha Roy, Mir Wajahat Hussain, K.
