Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a powerful superior technology and a great direction for researchers in the past few years. Nowadays, the world seeks more smart cities and at the same time be environmentally friendly. This depends critically on IoT collaboration with other current technologies. Future communications requirements and end devices should be energy-efficient, economic, and eco-friendly. However, the big data created by IoT devices presents critical challenges in its communication, storage, processing, security, adaptability, coverage issues, packets drop during the transmission process and energy sustainability. To solve these challenges, green communication, sensing networks, and hiring-up smart wireless technologies have gained significance. This study will focus on a new research direction: The Sustainable Internet of Things (S-IoT) with the aid of some salient features of smart wireless techniques over 5G networks to realize the best performance for all subscribers. In this study, smart and 4E antennas supported for S-IoT services were proposed and simulated based on capacity and coverage area. Simulation results had shown that S-IoT services via 5G networks could be optimized which verifies quality near to 95% whatever network's connections and service area. © 2022 IEEE.
