| Abstract | In a world faced with the twin challenges of increasing urbanization and climate change, it is paramount to re-think cities so that they are able to face the pressures these changes will bring. Smart Green City goes one step beyond smart cities and is committed to caring for the environment. The Smart City, undoubtedly, has many advantages, and the implementation of all the technology associated with it is almost immediate. However, there is another emerging concept that, although it has less relevance, is also very important: Green City. Smart City and Green City are two very related ideas. However, they are two different concepts: Smart City The concept is closely linked to the application of information and communication technologies to improve the urban management of cities. Through technologies, work is being done to reduce CO2 emissions in the city, water losses in supply networks, electricity consumption in public buildings, etc. Green City refers to a city committed to reducing the ecological footprint, that is, a city that applies habits, measures and ways to build, occupy the landscape and produce with minimal impact on the environment, contributing to the sustainability of the planet. If we combine both terms, we are talking about Smart Green City: a city with "Green" objectives (reduction of the ecological footprint) that it uses to obtain "Smart" technological tools. We could say that the basis of a Smart Green City is the Green cities, since they are the ones that inspire the goal. The Smart Green Cities go a step further in the modernization of cities, and not only apply technology to improve the quality of life of people, but also try not to negatively impact the environment. Each smart green cities project contributes to greater sustainability of the planet and to take more care of the environment. © SGEM2019. |
