Abstract Quantum computing and digital twins are two technologies that have the potential to revolutionize industries. However, there is a lack of comprehensive analysis on the academic landscape of these research areas. The objective of this chapter is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of academic publications related to quantum computing and digital twins, aiming to ascertain research trends, collaborative networks, and thematic focus areas. The analysis reveals that quantum computing research primarily concentrates on algorithmic development and cryptography, whereas digital twin research focuses on the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) and industrial applications. Notably, the study uncovers a limited yet expanding body of work at the intersection of quantum computing and digital twins, indicating an emerging multidisciplinary research avenue. The chapter identifies key players in these fields, discusses the historical evolution of these technologies, and underscores the need for increased multidisciplinary collaboration to unlock their full potential. These findings provide a foundational understanding to guide future research in both domains. Future studies could explore the synergies between quantum computing and digital twins, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and smart cities. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
