| Abstract | In recent years, the rapid advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have brought about numerous possibilities and transformative applications. As IoT continues to expand, WSNs play a pivotal role in connecting various devices and systems, enabling seamless communication and data sharing. This interconnectedness allows for the development of smart applications that can automate processes, optimize resource usage, and improve decision-making. As these technologies become integral components of various domains, ranging from smart homes and healthcare to industrial automation and smart cities, the need for robust security and privacy measures has become paramount. This chapter investigates and addresses the critical challenges posed by the rapid proliferation of IoT and WSN in our interconnected world. This begins with a comprehensive exploration of the diverse applications and use of IoT and WSN, emphasizing their role in enhancing efficiency, automation, and data-driven decision-making. Key aspects, such as data privacy, security, liability, consent, and intellectual property rights, are examined in the context of these emerging technologies.
