Abstract Within the framework of a smart city, a care platform could contribute to a more efficient structure of the care sector by connecting private and professional networks. Furthermore, by a care platform, the information exchange of persons with assistance needs among each other could be stimulated as well as neighbourhood assistance. The development of such platforms requires suitable business models and data usage concepts. In the context of this paper, two types of platforms, the marketplace type and the brokerage type, are analysed. In the context of business model development, the flows of services, payment and information between three types of participants (users, service providers and platform providers) are illustrated. Furthermore, based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Standard Data Protection Model, a proposal for data usage concepts will be presented and exemplified for the marketplace and the brokerage type. © 2022 IEEE.
