Abstract In light of the world's growing population, efforts are being undertaken to improve the electrical grid's intelligence and responsiveness to consumer energy needs and increase system efficiency and dependability. The Internet of Things (IoT) is critical to the operation of smart grid networks. The SG is especially vulnerable to catastrophic attacks in smart cities due to the proliferation of IoT-connected gadgets. Widgets can be found on the internet and accessed from any computer. A smart IoT grid has the largest IoT-focused cyber-attack surface due to its millions of knots. Cyber security (CS) employs procedures, policies, and technologies to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks and prevent exploiting systems, networks, and technologies. As a result, this study presents an IoT-SG-CS to secure smart grid networks. The proposed model is tested in a real-time intelligent grid system. The simulation findings justify the proposed approach when compared to earlier models, with improved cyber safety management efficiency. The testing findings reveal that the IoT-SG-CS achieves an attack prediction ratio of 90.3%, security rate of 96.3%, efficiency ratio of 98.2%, power consumption of 16.1%, and data transmission ratio of 97.3% compared to other approaches. © 2024 IEEE.
