Abstract Ongoing headway of remote innovation and Internet of Things (IoT) have gotten a critical advancement Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs). VANET and IoT are the critical components in the current Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Now a day’s IoT is the most important technology that assurance a smart life to human beings, using communications between devices, machines, objects, and everything along with people. The IoT is nothing but a network of things such as mobile phones, cellular tower, infrastructures, vehicles, devices, home appliances like TV, L.E.D, refrigerator, etc. Different examination on VANET and IoT shows that both have significant impacts in shrewd transportation framework. This paper points to examine and delineate the principal difficulties and downsides; the directing conventions, security and protection experienced by VANETs separately. This paper likewise might want to address the significance of IoT in view of VANET in traffic signal administration framework to adapt up to the new remote innovation time. In this paper we define how to connect IoT devices like mobile phone, cars, smart watches, TV, cellular towers, etc, and how to communicate among these IoT devices in the smart city. We use routing protocol algorithms for communication among these smart devices or vehicles in the proper way and efficient way. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
