Abstract In today's era, technology is being used in various fields. The exercise of making various cities more advanced has been done by the government for a long time. Efficient data communication and reliable network play an important role in these technological advances. It is very important for the network to be efficient to bring and carry data from one place to another and the efficiency of the network depends on the protocols being followed in the network. This paper explicitly focuses on the protocols of the Low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) family such as traditional LEACH, LEACH-centralized (LEACH-C) and compared with LEACH-optimized (LEACH-OP), by which the shortcomings of Cluster Head (CH) selection, energy consumption in excess. The analysis shows that, LEACH-OP outperforms in terms of maximum alive nodes, least dead nodes, maximum transfer of data packets, maximum energy saving, and long term operation capability. ©2024 IEEE.
