Abstract The contemporary challenges associated with urban parking, intensified by population growth and burgeoning vehicle numbers, demand sophisticated solutions. Traditional parking systems, coupled with antiquated infrastructure, contribute to urban congestion and driver discontent. The advent of ride-sharing and electric scooters further complicates the intricacies of urban parking dynamics. Tackling these issues necessitates the deployment of smart parking systems that seamlessly integrate both IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies. In this paradigm, real-time monitoring facilitated by sensors and mobile applications plays a pivotal role in assisting drivers in efficiently locating and securing available parking spaces. Concurrently, strategic investments in modern infrastructure serve to alleviate the scarcity of parking spaces. Beyond this, promoting alternative transportation methods, emphasizing sustainable urban planning, and integrating AIOT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) within smart city frameworks collectively redefine the landscape of parking management. AIOT integration provides tangible benefits by optimizing parking space availability, mitigating traffic congestion, and enhancing enforcement mechanisms through predictive analytics, dynamic pricing strategies, and automated processes. Utilizing sensors and cameras for real-time data collection enables drivers to promptly access information on parking occupancy. AI algorithms analyse this data to predict parking patterns, empowering cities to plan infrastructure more effectively. Dynamic pricing, based on demand, fosters optimal space utilization. Automated license plate recognition and digital payment systems streamline the parking process, eliminating the need for traditional physical tickets and cash transactions. This holistic integration of IoT with AI not only revolutionizes parking management but also positions urban environments for increased efficiency, sustainability, and an overall enhanced quality of life. By reducing traffic congestion, optimizing parking availability, and enhancing the overall convenience of parking, AIOT integration in smart cities is making urban living more efficient, sustainable, and enjoyable.
