Abstract In today's increasingly digitalized world with a growing trend of digitalization of almost all services, efficient urban parking management becomes a necessity. Traditional urban parking systems are usually infrastructure-heavily born relying on manual reporting and process that is ineffective and driver-offending. In this line, we suggest a smart parking system based on edge computing. Briefly, our smart parking system aims to innovate urban parking management, providing real-time parking availability to drivers, optimizing parking capacity to space ration and traffic congestion. Powered by edge computing, our system demonstrates a fast response time and potential scalability. Swipe motions and contextual data are collected in real-time through IoT devices, allowing for enhanced decision-making and seamless user experience [11]. This paper reviews the design and operation our smart parking system, highlighting the improvements in urban parking management and driver experience. © 2024 IEEE.
