Abstract The evolution of ubiquitous computing allowed the creation of smart cities. These cities use technologies to improve the life quality of their inhabitants, improving accessibility. This paper uses a systematic mapping study to analyse the works with ubiquitous computing to accessible way-finding, considering wheelchair users. This systematic review evaluated seven research questions considering project feasibility and solution functionalities. The research had 12 papers selected for the final phase. Most of these papers propose solutions with low investment to the user part. Some solutions can be optimised for a whole city context and support indoor and outdoor environments. The results also showed that most studies use trail management, while 58% support profile management and customisation. We found two research gaps: 1) lack of a testing methodology with a dataset capable of representing a complete city context; 2) a most extended period of test to evaluate the viability of the proposed solutions.
