Abstract As the smart city notion becomes widely adopted, the smart tourism technology (STT) has also been extensively utilized in diverse tourism fields. STT brings opportunities to tourism destination and promotes destination competitiveness. The structural equation modeling (SEM) is adopted in this paper to analyze the correlation between perceived STT experience, travel confidence benefits, travel satisfaction and tourists’ eWOM intention. 412 valid questionnaires in total were collected from tourists who had STT experience in Qingdao. The results showed tourists’ STT experience exerted positive impact on travel confidence benefits and travel satisfaction, and these two aspects positively influence tourists’ eWOM intention. This study offers certain significance for developing STT and enhancing the destination competitiveness. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
