Abstract Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution. Industry 4.0 is the digital transformation of manufacturing and value-creation processes. Industry 4.0 is the ongoing automation of conventional manufacturing and industrial processes using modern smart technologies. Machine-to-machine and the Internet of Things (IoT) are integrated to increase automation, improve communication and self-monitoring, and produce smart machines that can analyze and diagnose problems without the need for human intervention. Industry 4.0 included strategic intelligence in solutions to sustainably restore the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. Industry 4.0 is primarily characterized by the interconnection of physical industrial assets and digital technologies called cyber-physical systems. Industry 4.0 leads to “smart anything,” such as smart grids, smart energy, smart logistics, smart devices, smart buildings, smart services, smart manufacturing, smart factories, smart cities, and so on. This article provides an overview of IoT. Analysis of IoT adaptation effect in past and present industries and future scope is also discussed. © 2023 selection and editorial matter, Ajay, Hari Singh, Parveen, Bandar AlMangour.
