Abstract	An urbanized area that collects data using a range of digital and physical technologies is called a “smart city. ” The inclusion of cloud computing with the Internet of Things provides many cloud-based Internet of Things applications that are helpful for smart cities and employ information gathered from devices, people, homes, and other sources. While the data collected from these devices is utilized to enhance performance throughout the city, it is also utilized to manage efficiently assets, resources, income, etc. These data are analyzed and assessed to monitor and manage energy utilities, water supply systems, transportation networks, waste management, crime detection, security measures, digital libraries, healthcare facilities, and other opportunities. The loT ecosystem can be modernized with public cloud services from a cloud service provider, enabling third parties to use the loT for integrating data into electrical devices. This chapter discusses and frames cloud-based loT devices and applications utilized in smart cities to increase the quality of urban living. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
