| Abstract | The Internet of Things (IoT) has a crucial function in facilitating communication by linking different devices and allowing them to exchange data effortlessly. IoT has a significant impact on communication in various ways such as connectivity of the device, data exchange, remote monitoring, traffic communication, medical, supply chain, and security. IoT enables seamless communication between various devices, including sensors, actuators, and smart devices, via the internet. This link improves the level of automation and efficiency in a wide range of applications. The data can encompass real-time information about the environment, health measurements, industrial activities, and other related areas. The capacity to provide this data enables well-informed decision-making. IoT enables remote surveillance and management of devices. This is especially advantageous in situations where being physically there is difficult or costly. For example, in the field of agriculture, farmers can remotely monitor soil conditions and regulate irrigation systems by utilizing sensors that are enabled by IoT. IoT technology in smart cities enhances communication across different urban systems. Intelligent traffic signals, garbage disposal systems, and power networks may exchange information to maximize the utilization of resources and improve the overall efficiency of a city. The chapter focuses on the role of IoT in communication technologies. IoT devices are employed to monitor environmental parameters, such as the quality of air and water.
