Abstract The concept of the Energy Internet (EI) is a novel approach aimed at enhancing smart grids through the integration of diverse energy sources into a highly flexible and efficient system. In this study, We've looked at how IoT apps are being built to help with things like smart metering, smart cities, and smart homes to help with energy management and smart grids. As the IoT is considered to be a key driving force behind the EI, these applications are viewed as significant areas of interest for the EI concept. Furthermore, we have explored several important research domains, as well as the challenges and issues that must be addressed, and we have identified potential directions for future investigations related to the IoT-based EI concept. © 2023 IEEE.
