Abstract With the rapid growth of technologies, the Smart grid (SG) has attracted a lot of academic and commercial attention in recent years. Smart cities can achieve magnificent energy management through extensive monitoring and dependable communications by incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. However, when utilizing an IoT-based network configuration, long-term energy efficiency has become a significant challenge. In this paper, I present a comprehensive review of the development of a learning-based edge computing (EC) infrastructure-based IoT energy management system. The paper outlines a framework for an edge computing-based IoT system, providing a critical analysis of its benefits and challenges. © 2023 IEEE.
