Abstract	Smart city is a digital city concept that utilizes information technology in city management. The smart city concept will evolve into a metaverse City in the future. Adopting the metaverse without careful planning can spell trouble for the organization. It is because the metaverse concept is broad and evolving. Implementing the metaverse concept cannot be separated from the various technologies that support it, such as the internet, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), loT, Artificial Intelligent (AI), and blockchain. This paper provides an overview of the metaverse supporting technologies and their adaption to smart cities as a reference for related research. The main obj ective of this paper is to provide a better understanding of adopting the metaverse concept to smart cities and the fundamental technologies that support it. © 2022 IEEE.
