Abstract Smart cities are using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve emergency response. AI-driven analytics, IoT sensors, unmanned aerial vehicles, and blockchain-based technologies are revolutionizing urban disaster preparedness and response. AI algorithms can forecast natural disasters with precision, whilst IoT sensors deliver real-time data for systems of early warning. Drones provide swift evaluations and deliver supplies, whereas blockchain technology secures transparent allocation of resources. Nonetheless, ethical issues are of utmost importance, like the privacy of data, bias caused by algorithms, and the ethical application of AI require meticulous consideration. Ensuring human oversight, fostering confidence in human-AI collaboration, and establishing suitable regulatory structures are essential. This analysis underscores the revolutionary capacity of AI in response to emergencies while stressing the necessity for moral advancement, conscientious application, and an approach that prioritizes people to fully leverage these technologies. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
