Abstract In the current era, a system is required that connects devices, people, time, places, and networks, which is completely incorporated into what is called the internet of things (IoT). The IoT has eventually become the building blocks in the development of numerous sectors like healthcare monitoring systems, smart cities, smart homes, and smart city planning. The aim of an efficient IoT is to use various IoT devices to improve the quality of life with smart IoT environments. In this chapter, various IoT devices will be discussed. IoT devices are the computing devices wirelessly connected to a computer network that transmit different data from one place to another. The IoT allows the remote connection of standard devices, such as laptops, desktops, smartphones, and tablets, to a wide range of traditionally “dumb” or physical devices. Rooted with technology, these physical devices can communicate and connect with the internet. Devices can also be controlled from remote locations when connected physical devices are part of the system in which every device talks/connects to other devices to automate tasks in industries and homes. They can communicate usable sensor data to users, businesses, and other intended parties. The devices can be characterized into three main basic groups: industrial, enterprise, and consumer. Consumer-connected devices include wearables applications, smart TVs, smart toys, smart speakers, smart home appliances, and smart medical appliances. IoT devices are the pioneering creation of human beings that make our lives more comfortable. Since 2015, the demand for IoT devices has been increasing at a fast past. © 2024 Scrivener Publishing.
