| Abstract | Microgrids are well known to have inbuilt features of multiple generators, renewable energies, energy storages, and off-grid operation capability. Researchers have recently considered these features as essential to improving the reliability of grid networks, especially in smart cities in case of major outages. With grids becoming electronically smarter and microgrids still characterized by multiple instabilities that increase with their growth in size, it is generally regarded important that energy management systems (EMS) are crucial to their operations. In this regard, we evaluate the performance of our proposed switching EMS to the management of two microgrids, each containing multiple prosumers and consumers based on a test benchmark network by introducing failures. © 2021 IEEE. |
