Abstract Smart city policy makers are forming regulatory and structural measures to ensure zero vehicle emissions based on new fuel economy standards to reduce environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. These policies, subsequent technological advancements, and the growing market have resulted in the increased use of electric vehicles (Evs) for smart city transportation. Evs are capable of providing power back to smart cities using vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. For this chapter, we designed a smart city microgrid with a wind power plant, diesel generator, solar photovoltaic plant, both residential and industrial loads, and V2G technology with bidirectional power flow control to control the grid parameters during dynamic states. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Om Prakash Mahela, Baseem Khan and Puneet Kumar Jain. individual chapters, the contributors.
