Abstract	In order to overcome a series of problems existing in the process of smart city construction, such as user information privacy leakage, data processing difficulties, data storage difficulties, data format inconsistency and so on, this paper proposes a novel smart city construction scheme based on the Internet of things. The construction scheme starts from the current development status of smart city, combines the Internet of things technology and cloud computing technology, and aims to use the advantages of high-tech to realize the scientificity and feasibility of smart city construction. Based on this, the construction strategy also takes the needs of the citizens and the construction cost of the smart city into account, and pays attention to the development of the business model of the later smart city. The results show that the construction scheme can not only increase the scientificity of smart city construction, improve the security of user privacy, but also improve the residents' living experience and create a good smart space. © 2021 IEEE.
