Abstract The emergence of constant sicknesses like COVID-19 has re-underlined the need for residents all around the world to approach pressing healthcare. The recent pandemic has exposed the imperfections in the traditional healthcare system; specifically, that emergency clinics and medical facilities alone are not equipped to handle such a scenario. Smart and connected wearables are one of the most important advanced technologies that assist modern healthcare solutions (Reddy et al., 2023). These wearable may now collect data on an unprecedented scale because of advances in the Internet of Things (IoT). These wearable devices collect important data about our psychological, behavioural, and physical health in a context-specific manner. Machine learning (ML) is another branch of investigation that has been effectively used for several traffic engineering and networking challenges such as routing, security, and resource allocation. We’ve recently observed an increase in the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI)-based ways to deal with work on an assortment of IoT applications. Even though the emergence of ML-based methodologies for reliability engineering analysis in the IoT healthcare industry has received a lot of attention, there hasn’t been much research on it. We have offered a total evaluation of the utilization of AI procedures in the medical care area in this review. Additionally, existing methodologies’ strengths and drawbacks, as well as numerous research obstacles, are discussed. Our research will help healthcare professionals and government agencies stay up to date on the latest developments in ML-based reliability engineering analytics for smart healthcare. Additionally, the supplied essay aims to present a general overview of mobile health in conjunction with context-aware smart health inside smart cities. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Diptendu Sinha Roy, Mir Wajahat Hussain, K.
