Abstract	Technological advancement is turning cities into smart cities. Smart cities work in conjunction with Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for data collection and for providing better services and communication. Technologies such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Block Chain are used for collecting data, analysis and secured data transfer. In general, IoT sensors, actuators and technology are used to connect various components across the smart city. The impact of these connected devices and technology ranges from under the streets to the air that citizens breathe. Data collected from these connected devices are analysed to find useful patterns for further processing. A fully connected smart city includes smart energy, smart streetlights, smart mobility, smart transportation, smart data and so on, which are not only a future but also grow quickly to impact ordinary civic services across the globe. A smart city does not just provide smart services to the citizens but also provides security and safety to the citizens using smart intelligence.
