Abstract A smart city is a modern technology that aims to improve the quality of daily life and reduce costs. However, organizational, technological, and societal changes in today's cities are driven by their desire to be a part of the response to climate change. Smart city seeks to reconcile the cultural, social, and environmental pillars through approaches that combine participatory governance and rational management of available resources. The smart cities appeared in recent years, benefiting from technological advances illustrated by ubiquitous computing and artificial intelligence, forming ambient intelligence. It includes connected objects that make the city itself connected, or communicating. Then, connected objects allowing the city to react automatically according to events and new technologies based on the Internet of Things (IoT) which is widely dispersed. This study is carried out to provide valuable information about technology environments and support researchers; it is necessary to understand the choices and the gaps available in this area. © 2022 Scrivener Publishing LLC.
