Abstract	With the advent of various technologies, the cloud computing has become one of the most popular research topics. Cloud computing is very important because it allows to converge a set of technologies at a convenient go. Cloud Computing is ubiquitous given the emerging technologies such as edge and fog computing. We have studied various research papers to compile and bring forth the application and challenges that are currently present in the implementation. This review paper describes the setup of a fog and briefly touches the benefits of the fog computing. We have also described the use of fog computing with respect to the Smart cities concept. © 2019 IEEE.
