Abstract In the rapidly evolving field of the Internet of Things (IoT), ensuring secure and transparent data communication has become increasingly critical. This study proposes an IoT-assisted blockchain-based secure and transparent data communication system designed to address the challenges of data integrity, privacy, and security in IoT environments. The proposed system leverages blockchain technology's decentralized nature to create a tamper-resistant data storage and communication platform, ensuring that data collected from IoT devices remains secure and trustworthy. Advanced encryption techniques and smart contracts are integrated into the system to automate transactions and enhance security. The performance of the proposed model was evaluated against nine existing models, demonstrating superior results across various metrics. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 94.02%. Additionally, the model exhibited the lowest latency and highest throughput, making it highly suitable for real-time IoT applications. The results underscore the effectiveness of integrating blockchain technology with IoT to enhance data communication systems' security, reliability, and efficiency. This study provides a robust solution for secure data management in IoT systems, with significant implications for industries such as healthcare, smart cities, and industrial automation. © 2024 IEEE.
