Abstract The bio-waste classification and bin management system leverages AI, sensor fusion, and IoT technology to enhance waste management efficiency. It employs infrared, ultrasonic, and gas sensors for accurate waste classification and real-time bin monitoring. Smart bins equipped with sensors detect fill levels and alert the system when full, enabling automated scheduling of waste collection on a first-come, first-served basis through a synchronized mobile app. The system optimizes waste collection routes, reduces fuel consumption, and incorporates hazard detection mechanisms to identify toxic and flammable materials. A threshold algorithm determines optimal waste sorting criteria, improving precision and ensuring accurate segregation into composting and recycling streams biodegradable and non-biodegradable, respectively. Cloud-based analytics facilitate large-scale deployment, while seamless integration into smart cities promotes automation, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designed to support sustainability and circular economy principles, the system enhances operational efficiency, reduces landfill usage, and streamlines waste management processes. © 2025 IEEE.
