Abstract The rise in digital governance platforms for shared decision-making has been a matter of introspection for academicians worldwide. However, the effectiveness of government-run e-participation platforms in terms of their viability, the effectiveness of policies as an outcome of these platforms, and their challenges and limitations require further examination. myGov is the Government of India’s citizen engagement platform which collaborates with multiple government bodies to engage with citizens for policy formulation. This study analyses the platform to understand the characteristics of e-participation and, most importantly, the hindrances and constraints that impede people’s participation in shared decision-making. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
