Abstract Smart city applications offer significant benefits in areas such as the development of digital infrastructures, environmentally friendly transportation solutions and energy efficiency. The dense population, environmental challenges and the risk of disasters, especially earthquakes, necessitate the use of innovative technologies and renewable energy to make Istanbul a livable and sustainable city. This study emphasizes the importance of smart city applications, sustainability and innovation in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul during urban transformation. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
