Abstract In the area of public security, requirements for Smart Cities are changing due to the rapid growth and urbanization of cities. Law enforcement authorities are facing new challenges in protecting people and public and private entities, shifting the focus from traditional investigation to preventive investigation that allows incidents to decrease before they happen. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the computational solutions used in the management of public security in smart cities. Through a systematic mapping of the literature, this study addresses the scientific production of computational solutions as a new tool that smart cities are using to mitigate abnormalities and keep environments safe. © 2020 ACM.
