Abstract Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have grown rapidly and more people take to the skies. This technology will be included in future smart cities because to its significant benefits in both commercial and civil uses, such as package delivery and hostage rescue. Because of their sleek design and flexible mobility. UAVs are widely employed in industries, including agriculture, the military, healthcare, monitoring, and surveillance, among many others. For UAVs to operate effectively, communication networks that support their control and data transfer have a crucial role to play. To confirm the secure and dependable functioning of UAVs, these networks must address several security issues. A blockchain-based security framework that integrates cryptographic measures and smart contracts to improve UAVs communications. Therefore, based on a detailed analysis, an integration of privacy and security in blockchain-enabled UAVs communications is presented. This research presents fundamental analysis, gaps in existing research and basic needs that can assist to construct a secure blockchain-based UAVs communication framework and manage and support decentralized information storage. It delves into the security parameters as integrity, availability, authentication, authorization, confidentiality, confidentiality, & non-repudiation, to provide more comprehensive information. So, this analysis will help in future research to develop more secure, efficient, and scalable blockchain enabled UAV frameworks. © 2024 IEEE.
