Abstract The digital twin, which models and reproduces real space in cyberspace, is one of the most fundamental and important technologies for realizing smart cities in the Society 5.0 era. Our research group aims to realize a self-growing digital twin as fundamental for creating various kinds of City as a Service using beyond 5G technology. In this paper, as part of our ongoing research achievements, we introduce the following two implementations: user-participatory mobile crowdsensing and a city airspace testbed. The former system adopts gamification that encourages user participation and enables the easy collection of more spatial information. In the latter system, we developed lightweight self-standing poles that emulate drones hovering at low altitude and show some use cases for city-scale crowdsensing. © 2024 IEEE.
