Abstract In recent years, the trend in the electricity sector has led to a rise in demand and an increase in unstable renewable sources of energy and a decrease in the use of fossil fuels, destabilizing the grid leading to power failures. The power infrastructure is emerging through a distributed system, and the linked energy systems are shifting into a modern integrated system where renewable energies and power backup facilities, with both the goal of offering clean technologies, can have substantial exposure and acceptance by energy consumers. Adjusting the requirement and availability of energy in a network controlled by unpredictable variables, such as wind and solar power output based on weather factors, together with the extremely volatile demand from residential users, will contribute to a new configuration of customers and suppliers at the same time, which is the so-called Pro-summer and will be a very significant task. The main objective of this chapter is we want to check how the information and communication technologies (ICT), Internet of Things (IoT), and digital metering-based smart societies made up of Seller Consumer inside smart cities are the answer to the future energy delivery. The blockchain would make a major difference to rendering the electricity networks and other economic transactions safe and efficient. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
