Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) and adaptive learning techniques are rapidly evolving in healthcare sector that provides smart interface between patients and medical resources to enable smart healthcare. With rapid growth of population and urbanization, especially in smart cities, it is quite challenging to facilitate real-time medical diagnostic and follow-up treatment in the urban and rural sectors due to traffic congestion, distance to reach the medical centre, availability of doctor and so on. In this chapter, we propose an implementation of smart medical centre (SMC) at optimum locations of city using multi-objective model based on genetic algorithm (GA). These centres, equipped with smart beds, enable remote health monitoring of patient utilizing IoT and edge computing. GIS is used to model and analyse the spatial information. The experimental results show that the proposed system is effective in establishment of optimum centres and providing end-to-end diagnostics. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
