| Abstract | Artificial intelligence (AI) is an interdisciplinary field that anchor the concepts of mathematics, statistics and computer to implement problem-solving depending on enormous and tough datasets with high-level performing computers. Internet of Things (IoT) is the system of physical devices such as machines that expedite data transfer with little human work. An AI-empowered IoT build intelligent machines that feign smart behaviour and facilitate decision-making with little to no human meddling. By their blend, these two fields aid in scrutinizing various general aspects of smart cities in urban areas relating to efficient energy management, health care, smart homes and industries, building infrastructures, smart transport and more. AI manoeuvre various data models and make them reach correct decisions for the wide range of problems. Effectiveness is an important factor to be monitored in the smart cities, and it can be accomplished by applying the AI algorithms. Human monitoring of compliance and dangerous situations is laborious, tardy, and exorbitant. This can be bypassed by employing Artificial intelligence and outstripping human decisions. All the advanced systems in the smart cities are to be monitored keenly to get fine results. These acquired data are then deployed by the IoT for the obvious final decisions. The current trends are focussed on improving efficiency, making the process faster and available with ease. IoT enables waste management, resource management, etc., and magnifies business opportunities. The ideas are cost-effective and easy to implement. Passable supply of water and electricity, sanitation, including solid and other waste management, efficient transportation and communication, comfortable and safe living for the poor, and flexible Internet facilities are achieved by AI and IoT.
