Abstract	This document summarizes new frontiers in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) from smart cities' perspective. We will discuss how ITS has evolved in recent years, what its components are, and what roles it plays in smart cities. In addition, in this paper, we will discuss the analytics, devices, applications and platforms used for Big Data systems in ITS. In particular, Apache Spark and Apache Hadoop will be evaluated and compared to see which one is better suited for ITS. © 2021 IEEE.
