Abstract The paper demonstrates how demand for efficient urban parking management can be addressed by the implementation of a smart, cost-effective real-time street parking system. It integrates technology on object detection using Raspberry Pi 4 and YOLO v5 to detect open parking spaces through a camera feed and interact with a Firebase Firestore cloud database where the information is saved. The mobile app then retrieves real-time parking information. The application, integrated using the Razorpay payment gateway, enables users to book parking spaces in just one click and pay without unnecessary delay in finding available spaces. It could thus be easily applicable to street and mall parking grounds, as it offers a scalable and practical solution for traffic reduction while being cost-efficient by using Raspberry Pi for the processing aspect. This proposed system will ensure optimal parking management and smooth usability thereby contributing to smart city infrastructures. © 2025 IEEE.
