Abstract The advent of the fifth generation - 5G - mobile networks mean a revolution in telecommunication infrastructure that can be hardly limited to the higher bandwidth rates and less latency. This chapter is devoted to the discussions about the security of new opportunities and threats that are associated with the use of 5G networks. Due to the role of 5G as the key for critical services, IoT connectivity and smart city development, it has become a focus of national and global security concerns. Finally, in the last chapter, the presentation has focused on few security frameworks like zero- trust architecture, network slicing security model, security issues and challenges in edge computing, and quantum standoff secure communications for 5G environment. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
